Welcome to Achnacarry Miniature Horse Stud which was established in 1995.
We are situated on 10 acres, just north of Palmerston North in New Zealand.
Back to the Beginning: My love for horses began from a very young age when my mother
used to sit me on the saddle of the farm hack with her to go around the farm. We always had horses to ride
as we grew up.
The first time I saw the Miniature Horses was at a Pet Show in Wellington when there were two
beautiful American ones there and I fell totally in love with them. So it all started in 1995 when we purchased our
first two Category B Mares, which have since been sold.
With a herd now of 17 carefully selected broodmares/fillies which we were breeding to my
mother's AMHA & NZMHA stallion (La Vista Count Remarkable) with good conformation, great pedigrees and
great personalities with EXCELLENT RESULTS!! Our herd has definitely improved in quality over the years and
we have reduced the size of the horses to mainly Category A stock. We try to ensure that the horses have good straight
legs and correct conformation for that good movement. And nice pretty heads with a good temperment are also
necessary here.
We have had a change of plan recently however with our breeding plan - as well as having the
pleasure of owning two fine beautiful black pinto AMHA stallions which we used on mares this season, we just
imported a stunning super fine silver buckskin colt from a top stud in the USA. He should bring in extra finest to our
breeding as well as some amazing colour.
We enjoy Showing our miniature horses also and do very well...
